BLADE LIGER MIRAGE
This is one of those customs where people loved it, but cringed that I painted over its original pearl armor, which did look gorgeous, but I rather have my own version. I do wish I had gotten another one to keep as is though. This kit featured the same problems the original had: a falling off butt, falling out legs (fixed in the Saber's release), and loose parts, particularly the shoulder and hip armor vents. Even though it has been awhile, I remember this kit also had bad fitting issues since the gold was sprayed on instead of molded in the color and required shaving before being put together. It's worth the extra trouble though because the gold looks fantastic, esp next to the original HMM Blade Liger's rather ugly green tinged pale yellow claws and teeth. One cool thing about Mirage is that he came with a B4 poster of the box art, something I really wished they would have continued to do.

As I said, I really wanted to do my own version of this zoid since I honestly never liked the pale gray on Mirage. I wanted more of a contrast and went with black. This is also because I love white, black, red and gold together. At the time that I did this, I didn't own an airbrush yet and didn't know how to achieve pearl, so I went with gloss white instead. Also the inner springs aren't missing, I just chose to not have them inside for a bit of a different look. Since painting it, a lot of the loose parts like the vents aren't as bad as before thanks to the extra paint coverage making the hinges a bit thicker to fit more snug.
I've entered him in two model contests. He got 4th place in one of Zoids Poison's contest and completely blew out the competition at an anime convention receiving both 1st place in his category as well as Best in Show.
